Snow Removal / Outdoor ice / Newton Sled Hill

As of Friday, January 13, all Glen Ellyn Park District facilities are clear, accessible and open.

Park District staff is currently completing secondary sidewalks and areas at Newton Park in preparation to begin making outdoor ice. Staff will then begin the layering process of applying water to both the hockey area on the tennis courts and the skating area near the shelter. If the weather continues to cooperate, the District at Newton Park should have “skateable” ice in four to five days.

Lake Ellyn and Lake Foxcroft are still not favorable to even walk on because the surface is slushy and not frozen in areas. The sled hill at Newton Park is open.

As always, please sled safely and cautiously. Any questions, please contact the Park District weather line: 630-858-0920.
