January 24, 2012 Regular Meeting Highlights

Golden Eagles Cheerleading Recognition
The Board of Commissioners recognized the 6th Grade Golden Eagles Cheerleaders for winning the 2011 Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association Championship, each one of the cheerleaders was presented with a plaque and a gift certificate to Dairy Queen.

Speer Financial Presentation
A representative from Speer Financial presented funding options for the current and future capital needs of the Park District.

GFOA Certificate
The Park District was once again awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for fiscal year ended December 31, 2010. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Sunset Pool Report
The Board of Commissioners reviewed the 2011 Annual Sunset Pool report. The Board of Commissioners approved the reduction of pool pass fees by ten percent, along with the reduction in the non-resident rate daily admissions fee by 25 percent. The hours of operations were also changed for weekday hours, Monday through Thursday the pool will now be open until 8:30 p.m.

Request for Proposal Attitude & Interest Survey/Request for Qualifications for Lake Ellyn Master Plan Update

An update regarding the RFP for an “Interest and Attitude” survey and the RFQ for Lake Ellyn Park master plan was provided. Information for both projects was publically noticed and interest has been strong. The RFP is due February 9th and the RFQ deadline is February 15th. Following submittals by interested firms, interviews will be conducted with selected applicants and recommendations will be presented to the Board of Park Commissioners.
